Socially inclusive change

Freedom Wellbeing Project CIC is a community development project formed by Jackie Heffer-Cooke, senior yogi and scholar of Global Social Development. Set up to empower, inspire and share yoga with underserved communities in Norfolk, we are supporting children, families and adults to achieve better mental, emotional and physical health.

We are creating a world of thriving mental, physical and social wellbeing, where the benefits of yoga are authentically accessible and inclusive of all. Join our community of Yoga in Action practitioners and make a difference to young people and mothers across Norfolk today.

Become a Yoga in Action Practitioner

We are looking for practitioners to train in community yoga in specialist areas who will deliver a 6-week programme whilst being mentored to deliver high impact social change around Norfolk.

Become a certified teacher in either yoga for pregnancy, baby yoga for new mums or kids yoga and put yoga in action to support these communities that need it most. The programme includes 3 days of contact training, class delivery for 6 weeks and regular mentoring and check ins with us. Applicants must be affiliated with a charity, not-for-profit, school or community organisation to be eligible. The venue for our trainings is the not-for-profit Norwich Wellbeing Centre, a lovely spacious center, deep in the heart of Norwich, opposite the picturesque Chapelfield Park.

For the Norfolk       community

Are you a community hub, charity or school who would like to deliver yoga and wellbeing within your community? We work with local organisations in Norfolk to create sustainable positive change on your doorstep, and are particularly interested in partnering with organisations in deprived areas. Could you or your staff be one of our practitioners that we are training, for free, to support families and young people in your area?

Wellbeing for all

The CIC aims are to ensure that therapeutic tools and techniques including yoga, breathwork, mindfulness and sharing circles are accessible for everyone, and especially for people who experience enduring barriers to financial security, wellbeing and health.

Improve wellbeing in your community

Our training programmes:

We are focusing on three key vulnerable communities at risk of social isolation, mental health challenges or who face barriers to accessing the benefits of yoga and mindfulness.

✦ Kid’s Yoga, Toddler to Tween delivered via the ZenKids programme

Baby and Post-Natal Yoga & Massage delivered via the ZenMuma programme

Pregnancy Yoga delivered via the ZenMuma programme

Yoga   ✦   for kids

Training dates: 1st, 2nd, 3rd October 2024

Funded training to share the transformative power of yoga with children and young people in your school or community. In the last three years, the likelihood of young people having a mental health problem has increased by 50%, a problem exacerbated as a result of the pandemic. However, yoga has a positive effect on stress, physical and mental wellbeing for children; it is now more important than ever to put yoga in action to strengthen the wellbeing of the next generation. Train with us and make change today.

Supporting ✦ local
pregnant mothers

Training dates: 17th, 18th, 19th Sept 2024

New and pregnant mothers are at greater risk of social isolation, loneliness and poor physical and mental health, particularly those who have experienced trauma and abuse. Learn how you can support mothers in your existing community to build their physical & mental wellbeing and resilience through yoga, and share these benefits with mothers that otherwise might not be able to access it. Put yoga in action today and train to be a facilitator, for free.

Empowering local
  new mums

Training dates: 24th, 25th, 26th Sept 2024

Bring the benefits of yoga to new mums in the postnatal period, a critical and vulnerable time for maternal mental health. Yoga has demonstrated a notable positive impact during this time, especially on postnatal mood, which is why we are creating safe, inclusive spaces for mums to come together and connect with themselves, others and their babies through yoga and mindfulness . Train with us to share the positivity in your local community today.

  • “Everyone needs to know about these methods”

    Claire Stanley, Banham Primary

  • “I feel really confident and passionate about bringing yoga and all the benefits to kids and their families”
